Once you are ready after completing some marathons, the first thing which comes in the mind of most of the athletes is becoming an iron man. To become an iron man, a competitor has to complete a race which comprises of three stages. They have to first swim for a whopping 2.4 miles, and after that, they have to ride a motorcycle for 112 miles and then finally run a full marathon. Looking at the past data, the average time taken to complete this race happens to be over 12 hours. And this is exceptionally exhausting and tiring. Though it sounds difficult, you can also become an iron man with time and patience.
How Can You Become An Iron Man?
If you have the desire to become one, you will get success in the same. Remember that this won’t happen overnight and you have to give your body some time. You need to build your fitness up. But the truth is it is not going to be free of pain. When you start the training to become an iron man, things will look harsh. You will find it difficult and think of quitting. Only completing one task will be a big task for you, let alone the three tasks in a single go. For people who have no experience in running marathons, it might take up to three years to get ready. They require getting their body ready and building fitness to the maximum level.
Always remember that making your core or the base stronger is the key to success. You have to ensure that you make your core extremely strong so that with the time you can bear the brunt and keep on going forward. If your base is not strong high chances are that you will quickly fail. You have to train for all the sports simultaneously. And also have to prepare for speed almost every day.
What Else Can You Do?
Another essential thing which matters a lot if you want to become an iron man is endurance. Once you get the base, you should start building on it. For example, if you start running, you should keep on increasing the distance every week.
It is also essential that you practice the transitions from one sport to another. It is not going to be easy to switch from swimming to biking and then to running. Because of this, you should train yourself in such a way that you do not find it difficult. When you are on a bike, your leg muscles shorten up. This might be a problem for you when you start running. Because of this, you should practice the transitions to get yourself ready for the grand event.
Apart from your training, what you also consume matters as it decides your fitness levels and your overall health. You must follow a healthy diet and stay away from food items which can hinder your growth. You should eat enough green leafy vegetables and nutrients to get all the necessary nutrients. And with this, you should also consume a lot of water to keep yourself hydrated.
